A memory of KGTK 8…

I am proud of my brother. :)

for my sister: engineering or social science?

yesterday i saw my bestfriend’s pic tagged on facebook, showing her with safety halmet which is red. similar to her, everyday i also wear my red helmet. the colour indicates me as the health, safety, and environmental engineer.

my other bf also wears helmet when she is on duty, while my other one bf doesn’t simply because she works at consultant. a germany consultant.

four of us do our job as engineers. we are quiet proud of it. well, i say ‘quiet’ since i know only a little about engineering stuffs. you know i am a newbie, don’t you? :)

working both in the office and on site.. getting our skin tanned..

dressing as a tough-mannish-look woman.. wearing high heels is only in your dream..

being placed in remote areas.. nono in tanjung, dhyes in satui, and me in amurang.. (nila in is jakarta btw, she gets fichtner).

i thank God for everything..

i do thank God. i love being an engineer.

until my sister aged 14 years old asked me about her future college major.. i told her:

please choose social science!

and my mother, despite she gets sincerity letting me work in noth sulawesi, replied to our conversation: “i couldn’t agree more”. having one daughter and one son majoring in engineering is enough for her. my younger sister better choose a major which led her to work indoor and in a big city.

you’re with me, ain’t you?

My brother was a Dinosaurs freak. ‘Begging my mom about going to States therefore he could saw dinosaours fossil’ pretty much describes his obsession. Now, eventhough he isn’t anymore, I am still glad to drag him in to Museum of Geology in Bandung, just to show him the creature.
We took photos with a T-rex fossil replica. Unfortunately i haven’t copy the files yet.

Here’s the fossil pic! (pic from: helfims.files.wordpress.com)

about the vegetables & fruits

do you like vegetables?
well i don’t. i even hate most of it. i think the way to make it tasted delicious is by serving it in such a very different way that loose its real taste, i.e. capcay or gado-gado (or so explained “tempura fried vege pattie”). but if it isn’t, for me eating vegetable is a no. anyhow i thank people for being creative, at least i could eat some kind of vegetables.

how about fruits, guys?
on the other hand, i love fruits. i am crazy about it. oh not to mention my family! for example my entire family is crazy about durian. we’d also love to eat one kilogram of lansium for each member. hahaha.

lansium

i am glad that my country, indonesia, has many delicious fruits growing there due to the tropical climate. we have durian, salak, jambu, and rambutan. however, to be fair, we ain’t get apricots, peaches, as well blueberries, hihi.

here they are, the fruits which i am thinking right now:

  • jackfruits
  • oranges
  • watermelon

how’s that? yum! :D

i guess it’s a tradition. my mom often complain about how we let the vege being wasted. however she still cooked it since it’s good for our health. our love of the fruits also come from the family tradition. my mom usually comes back from the market with papaya, mangos (i love the way she cuts ‘em, in a very big slice! i always grab it fast, haha), avocados, pineaple, grapes, while dad get home bringing salak (oh he bring me my favourite salak pondoh like only always :D), cantaloupe, pear, or banana.

we had guava and mango trees in our yard but it’s already dead. but we still have a jambu tree, and when it comes to its season, whoaa we could get sacks of jambu. that’s great :)
